Hi there,

That will not help.

Did you try Robin Walker's earlier suggestion in this post?

You can also try downloading the Soundmax Drivers from your manufacturer
website for a complete list go here please:

Ok..I have tried just about everything I can to get my audio back,
including
your suggestion, and still it shows "No Audio Device". My audio is an
on-board SoundMax. Of course, Microsoft has been NO help. I will try one
more thing, to reload the XP "Install Optional Windows Components" from
the
disc. If that doesn't work, then I don't know what will... I am very
frustrated...

Hi there,

Try booting with F8 and choose last known good configuration from the
boot
menue or use system restore in safe mode and go back to apoint before the
problem occured.

I have the same problem, but I am unable to determine exactly when and
what
download has shut my audio off. I have a SoundMax card, and I reloaded
the
driver, but I am still not getting any sound. The system shows the
card,
and
tells me that it it operating "normally", but still NO sound. I get no
audio
at all, not even "system sounds". The "Sounds and Audio Devices" tab
is
telling me that there is NO audio device installed. What the heck?
Got
any
ideas?
