Glad it worked for you. The reason that you had this issue is that you used some kind of Automatic Reg Cleaner that caused a removal of an entry in the Reg. Never use any Registry Cleaning tool that does any deleting without user input. If you do not know how the reg works then do not touch any cleaner that will remove any strings without your input.

Hi Peter.
Yes this helped. Essentially it seems like a new install and you need to
have your serial number at the ready when you start any of the applications
again.
Thanks

OK. Let us try this below. Can you post back as to the result and as to what happened after applying the below fix.
Follow it step by step
Thanks
1st Rename Office subkeys
Note: Removing the following registry keys may reset customized user
settings for your Microsoft Office programs.
1. Close all the applications.
2. Click on Start->Run, type in REGEDIT and click on OK.
3. Locate and select the following registry subkeys:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0
4. Right click on 11.0 and rename them to Old11.
5. Close the Registry Editor.
2nd. Detect and Repair Office 2003

I have Windows XP w/ SP2 and have configured the automatic updates. All has
run well in the past regardless of the updates. Yet on 5/9/07 the 5 auto
updates (see list) downloaded just fine and then attempted to run the
installation. Each of the applications failed. I have attempted run my
computer thereafter, only to have it run so slow, and sluggish that system
became unbearable to use. On a couple of occassions I had to hard boot the
entire due to the system going in NOT RESPONDING. I have attempted the
download (all by auto feature 4X's, with the same outcome each occasion).
I even attempted to disable the XP Firewall, and any of the spyware, or AV
apps running. The install failed as described
List of failed items are:
PowerPoint 2003(KB933669)
Excel 2003 (KB93366)
Word 2003 (KB934181)
Office 2003 (KB934180)
Outlook 2003 (KB934708)
Thanks for any and all quality helps on this issue
