Re: Incorrect time... can not adjust for the daylight savings time

Thanks for the reply, MowGreen!
The KB931836.log is quite large (61kB). Do you want it all, or just the
most-recently appended text? Is there a way to post it as an attachment?

I don't know when KB931836 was first installed. The current log only goes
back to Apr 1, 2007, which is when I tried the protocol you recommended
earlier in this thread. The update was already on my computer at that time,
but I don't remember the install date.

The problem started when daylight savings time went into effect.

Cheers,
JF

Did this time issue exist prior to the installation of the update ?

Hi,

I have the same problem. My clock reads one hour later than actual, and I
get error messages whenever I try to synchronize with any time server. I
followed your directions to the letter, but the problem still persists. Any
other ideas?

Thanks,
JF

OS Name Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2 Build 2600

Have you installed the patch to update the time zone change ? If the
answer is yes, then open Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.
Make sure the Show updates box is checked.
Scroll down towards the bottom and click the Remove button for
KB931836.
Restart the system afterwards.
Now download the TZ update from:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=66f1420c-df2d-400b-a8a9-ef9061a9a3ca&DisplayLang=en
SAVE it, do NOT run it. Close the browser and ANY other open program.
Double click WindowsXP-KB931836-x86-ENU.exe to initiate the installation.
If prompted to, restart the system afterwards.

Go back to the Control Panel and open Date and Time. Click the Time Zone
tab and ensure it's set to the proper zone.
Now click the Internet Time tab and see if the system can synch up with
a time server.

I can not get my system to syncronize to the new daylight savings time
or get it to adjust to the correct time. I will click on "adjust time"
and tell it that it is an hour ahead of the time it shows and with
minutes, it will reset to the hour lag time... I have even went in the
setting and adjusted the time zone and it will reset back to the old
time and remail an hour behind, this is getting real annoying...
