Re: Problem installing Windows XML Update (KB927978 AND 925672)

MowGreen,

Yes, VS6 was already installed when I upgraded to Vista. There was a
network printer driver that was installed (Canon MFC 7500 series) that didn't
come with XP. I got that driver from the CD that came with the printer.

Thanks for your help with this.

Steve,

I'm not sure why the update is being offered. Was VS 6 already installed
when the system was upgraded to Vista ?
AFAIK, the update is offered when a detected file/registry setting needs
to be updated. This is the first I've heard of a Vista system being
offered KB927978 and KB925672.

Was any printer/ all-in-one software installed after upgrading to Vista?

Hi, MowGreen.

Thanks for the link. Yes, I was prompted to. In fact, it keeps popping up
as critical updates.

After looking at the link, the only two reasons why I think it's asking me
to do this are:

1) I upgraded from XP SP2.
2) I have Visual Studio 6 installed.

Would those have anything to do with that?

Thanks again.

Steve,

Were you prompted to install these updates on Vista Business ?

I'm using Windows Vista Business and when I tried to install the updates, it
gave me the error CODE 64C. That's all it says.

I've logged in using the domain administrator (Username Administrator) as
well as the local administrator (Username Administrator) and it still gives
me the errors.

Any clues? Thanks.
