RE: Latest Root Certicicate update Problem

I've got the same issue. I'm still with .NET 2. Can't get on the net, though
IE browser opens and displays (Firefox only opens and shows in Task Manager,
but doesn't display; ditto for System Restore). Outlook Express can't connect
either. McAfee Security Centre can't open and display. If the Root
Certificates update is the cause, how can I undo it without System Restore
available to me? Is there a registry hook or DLL or something I can delete?

I too am having the exact same problem as described by the earlier posts, but.
it only affects 1 of my 2 computers. My desktop PC with Windows XP SP2 and
Internet Explorer 7 experiences this problem after updating, but a laptop
with the same configuration does not. On the desktop PC, after installing
the "root certificates update" from Windows Update and rebooting the
computer, I was unable to connect to the internet and the only way to restore
functionality was to do a system restore.
Any thoughts as to what might cause this problem?
FYI, I double-checked to make sure this issue wasn't related to the .net 3.0
update which appeared on Windows Update at the same time as this one and have
verified that .net is not the cause (.net 3.0 is currently installed on both
the desktop and laptop without any problems).

I have Windows SP2 will current to all updates except the latest root
certificate update. I have the same problem 2 others have mentioned. When I
put the update in I loose my internet connection plus it is very difficult to
shutdown the computer. It takes a long long time and you get error message
AXWIN not responding.
How to fix?

Hi
I have had the respective "Net Framework" installed for some time. I also am
current on the various updates, optional as well, on Media Player et al.
Still, I have the same problem as the original poster mentioned.
Any other ideas of what is causing this problem?

Yes I run the Pro x64 edition the problem was you need to install all prior
updates including MediaPlayer11 sad but true. As well as being updated you
must download the Microsoft .NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable
Package (x86). Pro x64 edition users needs a different package look for it it
is there as well as a standalone download too for offline install if wanted.

I have Win Xp Pro SP2 and when I take the latest Root Certificate update it
causes my broadband internet connaction fo fail and it changes IE7 especially
the tools menu some options missing, also outlook express cannot retreive
mail. I had to do a system restore to fix the problem and get rid of the root
certificate update. As soon as I get rid of the update my system goes back to
normal function. I don't understand what the problem is. Does any one have a
clue or how to fix it?
