TaurArian,

Thanks for your time.
What does "Rename the SoftwareDistribution directory" do?
Will this cause all the updates that I have loaded over the years to be
reinstalled?

Also, I do not use the Automatic Update service; I manually update Windows
after I have backed up my hard drive.
Will this rename process still be relavent?

Where in Australia do you live?

Okay, the update is downloaded. When it starts to install it fails.
If that is the case read article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/910336/en-us

As you didn't state much in your original post, I provided two links to
cover most situations.

Sorry but I do not understand your response.
I get the 70002 error when MS is trying to install security patch KB924191.
I do not get the 70002 error when searching for updates.
But are you just saying that this error is normal and should be ignored?

You receive a "0x80070002" or "0x80070003" error code after you download an update from
Windows Update, from Microsoft Update, or from Windows Server Update Services

When searching for available updates on the Update site, you see the 0x80070002 or
0x80070003 error

|I have been getting this install error since Oct, 2006.
| Looking at the messages, I do have regsvr32.exe in the system32 folder.
| Any help would be appreciated.
