TaurArian, I have the same problem trying to install the security pack
KB929969 for IE7. I get the error 0x8007F0DA "Setup could not verify the
integrity of the file Update.inf. Make sure the Cryptographic service is
running on this computer".
I've tried all the possible solutions in the article "You cannot install
some updates or programs" (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822798). However,
they haven't solved the problem.
Please, any suggestion ?
I have XP Professional SP2.

SirDuke, did you try any of the suggestions mentioned in the article?.
"Setup could not verify the integrity of the file Update.inf. Make sure the Cryptographic
service is running on this computer"
1. Start, Run, type: Services.msc
Make sure "Cryptographic Services" service is running and the Startup type is Automatic.
If it isn't, right-click the service and select Properties and set to Automatic. If the
service is not shown as "Started", you can start it by clicking the Start button.
Close the Services control panel and try installing the service pack or security patch.
2. If "Cryptographic Services" service was already running then stop the service by
clicking the Stop button, then using Windows Explorer, locate the folder
Windows\System32\catroot2 and rename it to something like catrootold. Now restart
"Cryptographic Services" by clicking the Start button, and try installing the update.
3. If the update still fails to install, stop the "Cryptographic Services" service.
Open a command prompt window (click Start, Run, type cmd and hit Enter) and then type the
following commands:
regsvr32 softpub.dll
regsvr32 wintrust.dll
regsvr32 initpki.dll
regsvr32 dssenh.dll
regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll
regsvr32 sccbase.dll
regsvr32 slbcsp.dll
regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll
Restart "Cryptographic Services" by clicking the Start button again, and try installing
the update.

| So does this mean there is no solution or 'fix' for this problem and how does
| it affect explore7, not being able to update security packs? Thanks
