Re: error code 0x8DDD0004

ActiveX controls may not load as expected in Internet Explorer due to defense in
depth changes introduced in cumulative security update 896688 (MS05-052)
http://support.microsoft.com:80/Default.aspx?kbid=909889

When accessing the Update site, you receive the 0x8ddd0004 error
http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/showarticle.aspx?articleid=36&ln=en&IsMu=False

Error that you see in the upper-right corner when you visit the Windows Update Web
site on a Windows XP-based computer: "[Error number: 0x8DDD0004]"

| Thanks Gerry for the advice. However, I followed instructions but when I got
| to the programs section there was no manage add-ons to select. There was only
| stuff like HTML editor, e-mail, newsgroups etc.
| I don't believe I was ever able to download the service pack 2, I think it
| is still service pack 1. Or maybe I don't have the right edition of internet
| explorer? The link you posted mentioned IE 6.
| Any other advice would be appreciated. Thanks again.
