Hi there,
The Compatibility Tab should be on the right side of the general tab that
is if you are looking under properties of the exe file, if it is a short cut
you are checking on than the tab is next to the tab shortcut.
If thit is not the case with your settings than I guess something is very
wrong with your windows installation.
Did you apply the patch?
ftp://ftp.westwood.com/pub/emperor/update/EM109EN.EXE
What are your system specs? CPU, installed type and amount of ram and
graphics card?
Best regards,

I tried that but I never see a Compatibility mode tab. Under Properties,
all
I get is a general tab and a virus tab from my viral software.

Hi Billy,
If you installed the game from cd to your harddrive than a shortcut to
play
the game should be there, just do the same as suggested before with the
shortcut, this should solve your problem.

Michel - When I go to My Computer, then open the disk, right click the
exe
file, there is no Compatibility tab. Is there another way to access
this?

Hi there,
Right click the exe file of the game you want to play than choose
properties
and in the opened window click the Compatability tab, you can than
choose:
run this program in win 95, 98 , Win ME, NT 4.0 or Win 2000
compaibility
mode.

What is the compatibility mode?

Nevermind, I solved the problem with "Compatability" Mode.

I've been having the very same problem, same game developers. I
cannot
get
Emporer: Battle for Dune to work with XP. It shows the initial
loading
screen
and then promptly freezes my computer. I have to either hit the
window
key to
be able to use the mouse or press control+alt+delete to end the
game. I
can
play all of my Blizzard games such as starcraft and Diablo as
well
as
my
Command and Conquer series of games. None of them auto start
though,
this has
been happening since the previous patch.
I realise that Emporer: Battle for Dune was not made for XP but
I've
heard
of people successfully running it. I just haven't found a
solution
to
this
problem myself. I ran it with no problems on my older
system(Win98)
and
have
recently decided to give the game another try, it installed fine.

After the last Update, ourCDROM drive won't load most of my
son's
games. When
he loads his disk into the CDROM drive, the initial screen
comes
up, but when
he clicks on the play option, he gets an error message
telling
him
the
program won't start and to check to see if the disk is in the
drive. This has
happened for 3 of the 4 games he regularly plays from two
different
companies
(Blizzard and Lucas Arts). One game will play, but he gets an
error
message
first indicating the disk needs to be fixed or debugged. We
can
play the
disks on another computer, so it is not the disks. We have
turned
off the
secruity software but this had no effect. We have uninstalled
and
reinstalled
Warcraft III multiple times, to no avail. We have removed the
patches from
Blizzard my son uses for his on-line game, but this did not
help
the
situation either. We can go into My Computer and see the
disk,
and
we can
play the movies that come with the game disk from the initial
screen, we just
can't play the game itself. Audio CDs work fine. We have not
added
anything
new to the computer for quite some time, and these programs
have
played for
at least two years without any other problems. Viral scans
indicated the
computer was clean (we run these regularly), we also
regularly
run
Spybot and
AdAware to detect any spyware. I am wondering if one of the
security patches
is the culprit and could be interfering with the autorun? Any
suggestions?
