Re: Install the ActiveX control required to view the website

Hello Mr. Mowgreen,

I have temporarily given up on IE7 and reverted back to IE6 SP2. I have to
study this part about gettin the Active X control and the BITS.

I do not have Norton but I have McAfee AV. Please note that even with IE6
SP2, I am getting the same error of not being able to manually look for
Updates. When I press the Express button, I get the green sliding bar which
looks for updates but goes on and on until I get the error message number
0x8DDD0009. Can you please help in slow motion so a novice can understand.
Thank you.

working because my updates only go as far as 13/10/2006. They seem to have
stopped after I downloaded IE7.

After clicking the recommend updates button, I get the next page where the
green moving bar keeps sliding across for a long time. After that I get an
error number page 0x8DDD0009. I tried solving the problem with the three
suggestions on the error page, but it did not work.

I also made sure that my Manage Add Ons service is 'On' because this is
mentioned. I cannot or do not have or do not know how to look for the
information bar to try and install Active X control. Maybe this is the
problem. Can you help please.

And which version of Norton AV is installed ? To repair BITS, please

Hello,
I have windows xp sp2.
I want to do a manual windows update. It keeps giving me the following: I
read many KB and proceed to close automatic update, BIT unregister weweb,
iuengine and yes I can install the active x Once only. When I want to
reaccess I continue to get the following:
Please note that the "take these steps to solve the problem" is leading
nowhere.
Also please note that it is already installed.

The BIT service seems to always turns itself off. I have the following
Description:
Transfers data between clients and servers in the background. If BITS is
disabled, features such as Windows Update will not work correctly.

I start the service but it leads me nowhere.

Your help will be much appreciated!

Install the ActiveX control required to view the website

The website will not display correctly on your computer without this
control. To install it:
1. Right-click the Internet Explorer Information Bar. It's located just
below the address bar.
2. In the right-click menu, click Install ActiveX Control.
3. In the Security Warning dialog box, click Install.

Note: If the Information Bar doesn't appear, or if you've installed the
control but still can't use the website, take these steps to solve the
problem.
