Is KB893357 already installed ? - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/893357
If so, according to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917021
This update replaces hotfix 893357.
You do not have to install the WPA2 Information Element Update on computers that have Windows XP Service Pack 2 and the Wireless Client Update installed.
Not sure if that's what's causing the BSOD or if there's a driver conflict from the Ndisuio.sys of KB917021 with the SMC2635W's driver.
As to the version numbers, I have absolutely no idea what they relate to.
What are you attempting to accomplish with the update ?

Not sure were to go with this. Please excuse me and advice if there is a more appropriate forum..
My old Sony laptop running XP-pro SP2, crashes with a "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LES_OR_EQUAL blue screen, each 3 times that I installed KB917021_v3, following reboot and after a while This is an update for the wireless system. Just have to uninstall it to solve the problem. The driver for the SMC2635W is not a sign one by MS. Yes, is old, but works quite well for me and there are no new drivers.
Any way, I just wonder is there is any body else having a similar issue. Should leave the update out. Perhaps we will be treated with a version "4" and wonder why 3 versions anyway.
Cheers,.
