First, a note: proxycfg isn't always available - depending on your
OS/SP. Wasn't on my Win2k-SP4 machine, nor my XP Pro-SP2 machine. I
expanded it from my Win 2003 Server CD, though and it worked on both
machines.
Second, I found that IE settings were not the same as reported by
proxycfg (just type the command by itself for the "report"). Our
machines are REQUIRED to have correct proxy settings or they can't get
on the internet, so IE settings must be set, and must be set correctly.
proxycfg reported NO proxy. Used proxycfg in the following format:
proxycfg -p proxy_name:port_number "<local>"
Substitute the name of your proxy for proxy_name and port number (leave
the colon : ) type everything else as I did here.
Restart the machine.
