Ha, ha, ha...

Yes, many are calling Windows Genuine Advantage "malware" as a
derrogatory reference but not in a "real" sense.

More like spyware, in the real sense. Vista will have a more
advanced one that could be called a combination of spyware and
"killswitchware".

No anti malware applications I know of will flag the genuine WGA

Of course not, who would want to bring on Microsoft's wrath and
the subsequent financial problems?

There ARE fake Windows Genuine Advantage Trojans but they do NOT
come from Microsoft. One actually runs as a NT Service.

I'm sure there are.

People are realled PISSED OFF about WGA. Thus they are putting it
in the class of malware which it doesn't belong. It is more in
the line of a Software Reposession Utility.
The organization that I am contracted to is a legitimate as
legitimate can get. All are OS linces are bought, paid for and
are legitimate. Yet, there is a MISSION CRITICAL notebook that we
have deployed that is having a WGA issue and Microsoft has been
dragging their feet in this matter. It is more than just PITA. But, I
still won't classify it as malware.

I classify it as the beginning of the end for Windows.

Mostly - I just had to clean up that horrible mess for my own sanity and
make it more legible.

However - I also wanted to add that if it was the beginning of the end - it
sure is a slow ending - as that was months ago and the arguments over that
little fiasco have died down a lot. Just like the arguments (including
statements about it being the "beginning of the end") when Windows XP
required activation to work and there were normal users who suddenly could
not go buy the latest Windows OS (one license) and install it on all of
their 5 computers at home (without a little know-how or dumb-luck...)

I don't care either way... No matter what happens to MS - I will still be
around and still be happily supporting whatever takes its place. What I
cannot fathom is how anyone could take a strong stance one way or the other
and actually believe what they are spouting in its entirety. =)

Grey world and sheep... That is all I am going to say. ;-)
