Re: Latest Update has destroyed my computer

Actually, all I did was system restore to an earlier date and netscape was
back. i take exception to the statement that NAV doesn't work with windows
because having used NAV for at least 5 years and it claims to work with
windows I think it is the upgraders fault for changing windows not to work
with NAV. Since NAV iss expensive, i think your people had better take that
program into account.

The icons were lost or, you can no longer use Netscape. BTW, I have that
specific version installed on my main system and the update had NO
effect whatsover.
Look to Norton for the cause of the issue, not the update.
Did you attempt to employ any of the workarounds for the vulnerability
or use a 3rd party patch ?

I use NAV continuously on my computer and never had a problem, until today's
automatic update of Kb925486. It has removed my Netscape 7.2 which I much
prefer to use over explorer. Explorer works, but I cannot access any of my
icons for netscape. How do I get netscape back!!?

It was just waiting until a Critical Update was issued before before the
above combination of software presented problems.
Try booting to Safe Mode and then uninstall the " update you allowed to
install " :
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx

If the update was KB925486, then it *should* be reinstalled due to it's
Critical nature. If you did any workarounds for the vulnerability then
that *may* be why this issue arose. Suggest undoing any workaround used.

MOST likely candidate for this issue is the combo of ZA and NAV.
IMHO, NAV is not suitable for use on any Windows system.
Uninstall it when the subscription runs out and obtain a trustworthy and
reliable AV. Or, continue to suffer issues with it.
The choice is yours. In conjunction with AV vendors, MS has a list of
free trials of AV's here :
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/downloads/default.mspx

All are worthy *except* NAV.
