Are you installing SP2 from Windows Update, the full downloaded SP2, or the SP2 CD ? Suggest downloading the full package if you're on broadband:

Save it, do not run it from it's present location.
Follow the steps laid out for " Installing SP2 ".

If the installation fails again -

Scroll down to the " Service Pack 2 installation log files " heading.
Turn on Verbose logging as per the steps laid out and try the installation again.
Post back with the section(s) of the setupapi.log that contain error codes/messages. Start at the bottom of the log for the most recent entries and work your way back up.
