Re: Visual C++ Runtime Error

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Pete,

If the solutions on Aaron's pages can't resolve the Visual C++ Runtime Error and it pops up at other times then it *may* be a result of the presence of malware.
Strongly suggest that you read this tutorial :
http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?t=15574

And then, using IE, have the system scanned by the Kaspersky online scanner: http://usa.kaspersky.com/services/free-virus-scanner.php
Let's rule out malware first to be on the safe side ;)

Hi!

Thank you MowGreen for your reply.

Sorry, I have already been checking all the Aaron Stebner hints, but they didn't help.

This Visual C++ Runtime Error problem seems to be more common, it will be popping-up also on other programs not only on the .NET Update ... and, I have already been checking the hints for IE Extra Toolbar deletions ...

Still other ideas?

Best regards,

Pete V.

Pete,

Have you tried the ".NET Framework setup verification tool to check for errors" ? Aaron also suggests that.

And - How to fix .NET Framework install errors that ask for tmpXXXX.tmp
http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/2005/09/15/468147.aspx
may provide some assistance, too.

Hi!

Please, is there some explanation/cure for the Visual C++ Runtime Error on Windows Update?

The error message has begun to pop-up when updating the .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1 pointing to Program: C:\DOCUME~1\username\LOCALS~1\Temp\SL1C.tmp or some other similar name program. When checking the code for the failing update there is noted 0x80000007, but the suggested cure for it, the .NET cleanup by Aaron Stebner doesn't give any help for this.

So, is this an error on Windows Update or Visual C++, and how to cure it?

Best regards,

Pete V.
