Try entering the names of any anti-virus software (McAfee, AVG, Avast,
PC-cillin, and so on) into that same support site and you will see
similar articles - most talking about similar issues. Comprehensive
anti-virus software is complex stuff. As such, any anti-virus program
is going to have problems occasionally. Norton AV is no more prone to
this than any other similar product.
of which about 10,400 are for NAV specifically

And would you care to guess what percentage that is of the total
number of Norton AV users? I don't know myself. However, I do know
that Norton AV is the number one selling anti-virus software, which
suggests their customer base likely numbers into the tens of millions
world-wide.
Current numbers apparently are that Norton/Symantec has 53% of the AV market - how much the AV market constitutes of the total software market, I don't know - but it's certainly not more that 10%!!
People have a right to expect that the brand-leader in any market is a notch above the competition in things other than 'breaking my PC' and 'disallowing my System restore' Everyone else could fix their problems with SR - why couldn't Norton/Symantec?
