Re: Can Windows 98, 98SE and ME still get hotfixes from Microsoft

I have done just what you said a few days before July 11th just to be sure I
had all the updates in case needed down the road. I thought that this would
be gone and not accessible too after the July 11th but I just tried again
and it is available.

I dual boot with XP and 98 also using BootIT.

I just went to Windows Updates in 98 and I can still get to Windows Updates.
There are a couple updates there that I haven't taken cause I don't want
them but they are there.

I was under the impression that July 11th when the support ended that you
could no longer get to Windows Updates and if you did, that you wouldn't be
able to get any.

Apparently you can get to Windows Updates and get them.

Do they mean that when the support ended that there just will be no more new
updates but you can still go to Windows Updates and get what is there?

Thanks,
Ed.

You can download them from the Catalog and save to be installed later.

Click Add button for each update you want to download. Once you have what
you want, Click the "Go To Download Basket" link. Type in or browse to
the location where you want the updates saved to and then Click the
"Download Now" button.
Once downloaded, you can then burn them to CD.

How to download updates and drivers from the Windows Update Catalog or
from the Microsoft Update Catalog

Thanks again for all of your responses. Have a nice day.
