Hi, Thank you for the advise. I have purchased and run the Kaspersky SW and
the system is clean. Before this I was running counterspy, Ad-Aware, and Zone
alarm. I think at this time I will seak another avenue for solving my
problem. Thanks to all who took the time to give me advise.

Strongly suggest you read this tutorial :.
Tutorial for Kapersky On-line Virus Scanner

And then have the system scanned at Kaspersky :

It appears that malware has affected the Trusted zones. IF malware is
detected, then suggest you post at one of these reputable ant-malware
forums after first reading the guidelines of the forum of your choice:

Thank you for the advice. Unfortunately, those 2 addresses are rejected and
the folowing message is given: "You have entered an invaid wild card
sequence." In fact every address I enter is rejected for the same reason
even if there are no wild cards. "Require Server Verification (https:) for
all sites in this zone to add these sites" is unchecked. BTW, I am using IE
6.0.2800.

Try adding the following sites to the IE Trusted Sites zone
http://update.microsoft.com
http://download.windowsupdate.microsoft.com
You may need to uncheck "Require Server Verification (https:) for all sites in
this zone to add these sites.
Recheck when finished.

| Hi Patti, I have encountered the error you posted a solution for but I still
| have the problem. When I enter the trusted web sites the addresses are not
| accepted due to " a format" problem. I tried some of their valid addresses
| but all are rejected. BTW, I also tried other solutions (zone alarm fixes &
| shutting it down) that pertain to this error message but none work. I did
| download the CWshredder SW, ran it and did not find any malware. Do you have
| a work around for entering the trusted web addresses?
|
| Thanks in advance.
