You're welcome. If sp2's installation is trouble-free, here's some tips:

I still do not know how to resolve the question I posed. However, suddenly
today an update appeared on a pop up window. It was for SP 2 and I have
downloaded it supposedly successfully. I would assume that therefore I did
not have SP 2 as Windows download center had said I had. Go figure!! Thanks
anyway for your interest in replying to my post.

Send for the CD - chances are that you'll use it more than once.

If you know someone who has the CD, borrow it - saves time.

Thank you. The info from System is the same as I get using right click on My
Computer >properties.Even though that tells me I have SP1, when I am
attempting to download SP2 in the Microsoft download center, I am told I
already have SP2. That is my dilemma.

I had to have Windows XP Home reloaded and thereafter data recovery
performed. At that point the tech suggested to not reload SP2 and exist with
only SP 1. Windows has been very slow booting and I decided to download SP 2
anyway. Windows update site notified that SP 2 was in fact, on my computer.
However in checking My Computer "properties", SP 1 is listed as being on my
computer. Because of the different info, I do not know whether or not I have
SP 2 on my computer. How do I determine which is the case in light of the
conflicting information Windows is providing?
