The links that I gave you are all free and extremely thorough. When you've
finished, you'll know exactly what you have in your pc, with no doubt
whatsoever. Adaware is good but you need to use the other programs along
with Adaware if you suspect a Trojan, virus, worm, malicious spyware, etc.
It took me about 8 hrs to run all of the scans that are listed in the link
that I posted, but I have complete piece of mind that I have none of those
problems in my pc. The problem that I have is with the updates that
Microsoft has been sending and which I downloaded and installed in my pc.
When I've downloaded the last 3 updates, each time my pc had very serious to
semi-serious problems. When I removed the updates, my pc worked well again.

As I said in a previous thread, the program named a-squared found spyware
that Microsoft placed in my pc with one of their updates. The name of the
file is WgaTray.exe When I removed the program, my pc's speed doubled.

a-squared will ask you if you want to allow the program access one time, all
the time, deny access or delete the file. The first time I chose to allow
access one time. After I checked into the above url, I rebooted and used the
option to delete the file. As I said, deleting it improve my pc's
performance 200%.

There's no sense in using a bandaid when you have a knife stuck in your
back. AdAware run by itself is a bandaid.

Once you run all of these programs, and they do take about 8 hours to
complete all of them, your mind will be at ease because you'll know for a
certainty that your computer is clean. It might seem a little excessive but,
together, the programs search every byte in your pc. Running all of these
programs isn't something that needs to be done once a week or once a month,
but they can be run when you have problems with your pc, when you want to
clean out the junk files in your pc, and you can run them one at a time, here
and there, to make certain that you haven't picked up something.
