How do I check integrity of updates/hotfixes?

I have downloaded updates for my workstation on another machine. I did
not find any checksum or hash of
the files I downloaded.
How do I confirm integrity of the downloaded files i.e. whether the
files got corrupted while being
downloaded or they got infected/corrupted while on the machine I
downloaded to. Is there any check for
their integrity? Or does the windows installer which installs the
updates does any check for the sanity of
patches?
Many thanks in advance for help.
