nealo,
Go to Start, Run, type in
eventvwr.msc
Click OK.
Click on System in the left frame.
Under Type look for a red circle with an X and the word Error.
Now look under Source for Windows Update Agent.
Double click the entry to see where the error is stemming from.
Under the up and down arrows on the right side of the window near the top is a File icon. Click on that to copy the error to the Clipboard.
Paste that entry into your reply, please. It will look something like this :
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None
Event ID: 7034
Date: 3/31/2006
Time: 2:41:03 PM
User: N/A
Computer: C4DFF7AF7CA
Description:
The Windows Installer service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s).
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.
Click the provided link to see if there is any resolution for that error. (* Not the above link, the one on your system in Event Viewer *)

Hi,.
When I select "express" or "custom" on the update page I get an imediate BSOD. I have SP2 installed and everything seems to be running fine. Could this be some kind of ActiveX issue?
Thank you
