0x80070005 Error

I can't get AU to work. On the updates page it downloads the "new"
software 100%, but then shows that the page cannot be displayed message with
error code 0x80070005. I've tried registering .dll files which is OK except
for
WUAUENG.DLL where I get a Failed message come up. Under Automatic Updates in
the Services Dialog there is nothing showing. I am running XPSP1, as SP2 will
not run properly on my PC. Everything fine until I uninstalled SP2.
Downloaded new version of Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool and this
seems OK, no errors reported.
