Having gone thru all the problems of Windows Update download and failure to

eithet my complter, Microsoft or Windows Update.

Other sites with download and installs seem to go forward with no problelms
but lurking here in the update forms it seems that an exorbitant number of
posters at times experience problems with the Windows updates and seek help.

Many Many work arounds are posted and work and some do not work ...which is
to say is this a problem with MS or the users...Which??

Mixture of both but problems seem to come in waves the last being WGA
Mk2 for which there are many fixes both official and unofficial - some
work some don't depending on the state of the PC concerned.

There are usually lots of minor things wrong with most PCs and most of
the time it does not matter especially with a third party software
update which is generally only interested in its own tiny bit of code
but the OS and is infinitelty more complicated so windows updates is
more sensitive to the accumulation of minor errors.

There has been a lot of problems with M$ Updates recently but on a
global scale its probably a very small percentage of machines actually
affected. I have 10 or so machines to look after here and there and
the only one that had update problems recently has been running for
well over 3 years on its latest install, with daily heavy use. Now
apart from update errors myriads of other minor problems are affecting
it and it is dog slow - defragging, maintenance, reg cleaning etc are
making things worse not better - it is finished it needs a re-install.

Bottom line is the OS & Software deteriorate with use whatever you do
so you can blame M$ for all sorts of problems (and they do make
mistakes and issue sloppy code all the time) but look at it this way,
if all you put on a PC was the OS then left it all as default and
walked away it would probably run for years without any problems at
all.

There that did nothing to answer your question did it?
