Re: Windows Genuine Advantage (KB892130) Failed in Windows Update

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

Could you please explain to us why then the following sitation occured for me.

I tried to run the system updates since I have been experiencing hardware
problems and just got them resoved. (Power supply: so it should not do much
to change the hardware profile of which windows keeps track.)

When visiting the windows update site if failed to install the update.

I knew about the windows Defender update so I went and downloaded it and ran
into the need to validate my windows . Ran the alternate method using my
non-admin and was able to successfully validate my windows. Not only that I
was able to download and install Windows Defender.

I have since gone back an tried to run the windows update and still running
into problems. I then went back to the Windows Defender download (admin
Account) and ran into the need to validate as I assumed I would. It validated
once more.

Back to the windows update (using the admin account) and both the Express
and Custom updates are not installing the Windows Genuine Advantage
(re-release) update).

So I know I have a valid windows or should Microsoft not trust its alternate
method of validation.

No, you are wrong. Only folks that "think" they have
a legitimate Windows XP license are affected.
