My meaning was to reinstall a freshly formatted hard drive with WIndows
XP Pro and then start with the updates. If your statement was correct
it would mean we all have this problem and clearly we dont. That is
reinforced by the fact that I find so few hits on this problem and that
MS doesnt have a fix for their "inoperable updater/fixer function". I
didnt mean reinstall on top of my massively overdone and burnt out
current install. Most my friends agree if you use Windows alot, get
used to reinstalling from 'scratch" every 18 months. As far as a fix
from MS, they completely ignore the question so dont think they even
know they/we have a problem. I would like to hear from the user just
before my entry if you are out there, it said just three hours ago you
were on as of yesterday. THanks,...
