Re: KB896688- One last Try

Hi Freudi,

I've tried installing the update from a stand alone exe file that Tech
support (e-mail) sent me a while back, and I installed in Safe Mode. The
name of this file is: IE6Osp-1-KB896688Windows98-ME-x86-ENU.exe. So as far
as which programs are running, I don't believe there were any but explorer,
systray, scanregistry, KB891711, and possibly Total Recorder scheduler. (Of
course I've tried installing through the Update site several times, as
well.)

Yes indeed, I was assured by: "Karandeep" that I really didn't need this
update because my systen wouldn't accept it! Hmmmmmmm!

Thanks for continuing to give this a go.

Marcus

And which programs are running in the background? Yes list all of them!
You're on Windows 98, right?

Which is the same like the well known OLE_fix.reg included in the
OLEfix.zip.

Pardon? I highly doubt that an MS tech stated you won't need to apply
KB896688. You need to, trust me.

Bye,
