Re: CD ROM NEC NR-7900A not working

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

Hi patrick,

Although this is not the most appropriate newsgroup in which to post your
question, as this newsgroup is dedicated to problems with Windows Update,
give this a read before you end up junking your CDROM drive:

CD-ROM access is missing and messages cite error Code 31, Code 32, Code 19,
Code 39, or Code 41 after you remove Easy CD Creator in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=314060
(please note that although the article references Easy CD Creator, there are
other third-party software packages that will cause the same "problem" to
occur).

If you don't want to manually edit the registry, you can d/load and run the
registry patch that is available here:
http://aumha.org/win5/a/xpcd.php#problems
(look at the second "problem")

If the above doesn't rectify the problem, might I suggest that you post your
question to the microsoft.public.windowsxp.hardware newsgroup.

Regards,
