Hi all:
Thanks to the help of MS Level 2 support the problem was fixed. I was using
Network Associates VirusScan 7.1. Apparently, there was some corruption,
because I was using the same version of VirusScan on several other computers
that did not have a problem with windows update.
VirusScan had to be completely UNINSTALLED for the security patches to
install correctly. Merely disabling the VirusScan did not work and resulted
in the insufficient resources error message.
Thank you everybody for the suggestions.
Best wishes with your computer and Windoze Update,
Pete
