Let's see if this helps anyone out there. Client brought a Compaq laptop to
me was slow, ran Spybot S&D, AdAware & NIS w/spyware. Results 2 trojan
viruses & over 300 spy/ad ware. Cleaned all. OK. Regular maint.(cookies,
defrag, etc.) Installed XP SP2 OK. Installed 40 patches, not OK. KB896688
stops ActiveX & KB902400 fails installs. Removed OK. Worked w/MS 20 hr
lagtime between next suggestion from them. Unacceptable. Backed up pc, wiped
HD, reinstalled OS, NIS, Spybot S&D, AdAware & ALL patches. This pc works
fine now.
