Yes, it basically means that the update you downloaded is corrupt (has "bogus" metadata in the file downloaded). You may need to clear the system of information about that update and try (from a clean boot) to install it again. If that doesn't work the easiest (and fastest) solution is to manually download the update and install it while offline.

What update is giving you this issue, and what is your OS?
