We found a potential fix for our W2k servers. We looked at the local policy
on a server, under
Admin Tools > Local Security Policy
Local Policies > User Rights Assignment
Manage Auditing and Security Log
It was BLANK. We added the local Administrators group to it.
After logging off and back on, the Windows updates worked.
We have done this on each of our W2k servers and now they all work.
