Update of Win2k – (?) COM+ Event System problem

I cannot update Win2K Server – I assume from the moment when I installed
Rollup 1 for Win 2k SP4. I was getting 0x8007041D error. After reading some
messages I enabled COM+ Event System service, and at that moment (before
rebooting) I started to get 0x80070420 error message instead. I noticed that
COM+ Event System as well as automatic Updates are in “starting” state, so I
was not able to stop it or to restart. I made both of them manual and
rebooted the computer. COM+ again appeared in the “starting” state. I tried
to run “Automatic updates” – I got again permanent “starting” state. When I
tried to run Windows Update, Explorer showed blank screen which looks as if
it is busy waiting for some service to start up… I tried to stop my AVP (I do
not have Eset NOD32 which could result in errors similar to what I have), but
it did not help.
Twice I got viruses recently (articles about “zotob” are all over the
Internet) – and I do not know how to protect my server!
