Windows Automatic Update Error

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

Hi

I have tried for the past few days to get Windows Automatic updates to work,
they used to work, not sure what has changed. Anyway if I go to the site and
click express or custom, same thing happens, gives me the error screen and
suggests I check that the automaic updates service etc is running. It isn't.
And I can't get it to run, I try to start the service and all I get is "could
not start the Automatic Updates service on Local Computer." Error 0x80070057
incorrect parameter.

Can't find anything that works for me. Tried regsrv32 all the dlls listed on
one posting, no joy.

I am running XP sp2.

Any help would be approciated.

Cheers
Mark
