which contains the instruction

After Stopping the Service please rename the folder c:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution

and KB883821

which used to contain instuctions to clear the IE cache
but now contains the instructions to delete the entire SoftwareDistribution
subdirectory (which, if done naively immediately after the previous rename
operation would fail).

and a link to Marc Liron's troubleshooter for this error code
which essentially contains the instructions that KB883821 used to contain
and which TaurArian mostly reproduced anyway at the bottom of her reply.

Please describe your problem symptoms more clearly.
I have only been able to infer half of what you are even looking at.

You're not going to find much more clearer "step by step instructions"
than in the above article whose link I quoted above.
If you need help interpreting the instructions it is up to you to explain
what your difficulty is with them.

That's common after that upgrade particularly if you had been using
the V5 link (aka WUv5) before with an older version of Windows.

BTW there has recently been a further upgrade from WUv5 to WUv6
(V6) which should be more compatible than the some of the previous
transitions but could conceivably cause the same sorts of issues and
require the same resolutions. Please indicate which version of WU
that you think you are using (e.g. by posting the URL which appears
in your Address bar if you're not sure).
