Hi bakerdmw,
If you haven't already done so, you could try the driver rollback option in
Device Manager (double-click on "Sound, video and game controllers",
right-click on the reference to the C-Media audio device then select
Properties>Driver tab and then click on the "Roll back Driver" button).
Another option would be to perform a System Restore to a date and time that
precedes the installation of that update.
