I hit the same problem today. One difference: I got a "Generic Host Failure"
when I started the machine (Dell Precision Workstation 450, XP Pro, service
pack 2). After restarting the machine without getting the "Generic Host
Failure", I attempted to use Windows Update and got a 0x800A1391 error
message. I've done the same checks as Airpilot and also scanned the machine
using Norton AntiVirus 2005. None of the checks/tests found any remarkable
conditions.
Would appreciate any help in locating the source of this problem.
