I can't install the available updates via windows update. (Although I can get them manually at technet.)

Hi,

I tried to use windows update to get the the security updates today and the
operation failed because of a dcom error. I will list the errors below. I am
getting the error 10010 and if I try to start the bits service which when
combined with dcom prevents dcom from downloading the files. I can go to
windows update, it will display the files I need, but will not download
them. I get the following error message upon trying to start the Background
Intelligent Transfer Service: "Windows could not start the Background
Intelligent Transfer Service on Local Computer. For more information review
the System Event Log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the
service vendor, and rever to service-specific code -2147024894." In the
event log I get the following error message:
The server {4991D34B-80A1-4291-83B6-3328366B9097} did not register with DCOM
within the required timeout. This is the error 10010.

In the windowsupdate.log, the following text appears:2005-06-14

I got a similar but different error to 2147024894 as well, but I can't
reproduce that number.

I have the appropriate services working except Bits which refuses to start.
Any help is appreciated, I want Windows Update/Automatic Updates back.
