I have had the exact same problem.
I found the reason was my local area connection.
Although I have a usb broadband modem it seemed to still need the LAN card
enabled and plugged into somewhere. I did this by plugging it into an old hub
I had.
It donloaded security patches prior to needing sp2 ok but now get this
problem all the time.
Still trying to find a solution to it.
