Corrupt Disc Question

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

My boss was having problems getting his computer to boot up. He was getting
the message that the ntoskrnl.exe file is missing. He had used several very
good suggestions offered by Galen and getting further each time, but now when
he tries to use recovery, scan or even reinstall Windows XP, he gets about
35% through
and gets the message that his disc drive is corrupt. Is there a fix for
this or does he need to get a new one?
