Incredible Rage Building

LOL, got your attention?
I have been looking around the posts for 3 days now trying to fix my
problem, and I have tried about 30 different things that have been suggested
before and no luck.
Here's my problem:
1. I cant seem to download any updates, my connection is fine, but when
Update is downloading updates my modem and sys tray icon show no signs of
activity. except for the Critical Update for Win (KB886185) That's downloaded
but...
2. I cant install this update or any other ones for that matter. It just
tells me that the update failed, no error message, just it failed.

I've tried to provide everything in here and I hope someone can help me. Im
not a genius when it comes to computers, but I can hold my own. So please
HELP!!!

Thanks a lot,

Bonze Malone.
