Can't see how this update is even needed for 98 systems, Anthony. Are you certain that this is the update being "forced" onto the 98 boxes ?
Contacting MS for issues directly connected to updates by email is Free, BTW : http://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?&ln=en-us&gprid=6527&
For phone support I believe you pay the charges that apply to the phone call, not for support . Once again, the issue must be related to the specific update, not for issues related to the OS .

Why is KB885250 deciding to install itself even though it's hidden? Ironically it even installs itself without user intervention even though Automatic Updates is set to download but NOT install the updates. How can that happen? Why isn't the HOTFIX that supposedly fixes this available without calling their support line? My customers don't like paying twice within one month to have this fixed.
Is this some kind of blatant attempt by M$ to try and force users to upgrade their 98 machines? I think I should notify the local news station. It seems like a viable public interest story.
