Ricardo,
and embarrassed to tell you this, but it seems that some weeks ago after
reading something in one of the newsgroups about removing installation files,
I went and removed most of the uninstall files from Windows. It would seem
that KB 873333 was one of them. So, obviously, when I tried to uninstall I
got the response "the handle is invalid." It was then that I decided to look
at the uninstall files, and realise what I had done. So, I would imagine that
right now I need to wait for whatever Microsoft does about repairing this. I
have learnt a valuable lesson in that I will never again removed
uninstallation files. In the interim I have discovered that if I boot into
"safe mode" and then reboot that all works again. So that is the way I will
have to go in the meantime
