I tried your answer, and unchecked all the check marks. When I tried to
reboot, it wouldn't until I finally must have hit the right combination of F
keys before it would let me exit. I put all the checkmarks back in but left
the selective on and went into one of the top panel tabs to nose around. I
found the KB891711 in one of the lists. I either unchecked or clicked on it,
I don't remember, but found where it said to disable it. I did. I left the
selective on and rebooted and LO and BEHOLD , it worked (at least so far ).
Everything came up right when I came on this morning. It might have been a
startup box as now a box comes up that says that I am using selective for
startup. I just X it and it goes away. I could check the box on it that says
, don't show this message again, but it will remind me of what I did in case
I have more problems. I didn't have to go through each step of adding back
one at a time, just got rid of that KB thing. Thanks for your help, it
steared me in the right direction. Hope this helps someone else too.
