When you try to install an update, and THEN it fails, you have already
downloaded it. Windows Update is actually designed to save updates after
approval of download, even after a significant break in communication. The
Background Intelligent Transfer Service maintains that transfer until it is
complete, or breaks with a different error.

If you are concerned, try this:
1. Open a command prompt
    a. Click Start
    b. Click Run
    c. Type: cmd
    d. Press the <Enter> key, or click OK
2. When this opens, at the command prompt, type: net stop wuauserv <Enter>
<--remember this is the Enter key, so please do not type E-n-t, etc.
3. Still in the command prompt, verify that the Windows Update service
stopped by reading the result of the command from step 2.
4. Type the following into the command prompt: cd
%windir%\SoftwareDistribution <Enter>
5. Type the following: rd /s /q Download <Enter>
6. Type the following: net start wuauserv <Enter> ...and verify that this
service started
7. Quit the command prompt by typing: exit <Enter>
8. Now, please try Windows Update once more, and see if all of your updates
are listed with values, instead of 0kb.
