If you want to start over with updates, A Repair Installation would leave
all data and settings intact but all updates beyond those on the Windows CD
would be gone:
http://www3.telus.net/dandemar/repaxp.htm
sfc /scannow will also look in C:\windows\ServicePackFiles which is where
the Service Pack files are located.
So it will check for current files installed Service Pack.
This is one reason this file should not be deleted as some do to save space.
But if SFC /scannow and MBSA are OK, most likely your computer is OK.
