I do not know which update I am trying to install, because it never gets that
far. The error message comes up before getting to the place where it "checks
my system for possible updates".

I have found a work-around. I can temporarily enable "Automatic Updates",
then my system will automatically download and install them. However, the
Windows Update page still gives the same error. I would prefer not to have
Automatic Updates turned on all the time (or have to even use it
temporarily). I want to get my updates manually from the web page. Is this
not possible anymore???
