Help..SP2 appears to have crippled my machine!

Something has recently happened to my WIndows XP. I believe that it is the
fault of SP2. I cna't set up dial up internet access on my computer, only
allowing for braodband, certain programs won't run because the sound card
can't be initialised and I can't system restore. Any ideas?
