LiveUpdate is most likely a file associated with a Symantec product you have
installed on your system.
In addition to LiveUpdate, what other files have you erased? If you have
your original Win98 CD, it may be easiest (and simpler) to install Win98
over top of itself to restore missing components. Be sure you use the same
version of 98, and don't use one from your computer retailer called a
"Restore" CD as that will wipe everything from your system. If in doubt,
ask first. :)
Suggest you start by downloading/installing the MS scripting engine support
from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=0A8A18F6-249C-4A72-BFCF-FC6AF26DC390&displaylang=en
Then follow the steps listed in this article to manually install the WU
support files:
"Manual installation instructions for Windows Update controls" on
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/troubleshoot/ (about 1/4 down)
Beyond that, just when does Windows Update freeze at 0%? During scanning?
During downloading? During installs?
